Call for Applications 2022: Planetary Materials

The four-year fellowship-program called “Planetary Scholars & Artists in Residence Program” aims to stimulate transdisciplinary dialogues between the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and addresses scientists and artists who investigate the diverse connections between societies and the planet in their research projects with a focus on questions of sustainability.

Fellows are expected to take up residence in Giessen (or close by) throughout their three-month fellowships. They will be granted a monthly stipend of 5,000 euros/month, to cover all travel and living expenses. In addition, funding for workshops, guest speakers, exhibitions, publications etc. can be made available upon request. At JLU fellows are to offer workshops or master classes, which will serve as potential nuclei for ideas on future research, teaching and transfer. Furthermore, they will work together intensively in tandems and will be fully integrated into the JLU’s institutional network by benefitting from our comprehensive range of research facilities.

With the first call attached we invite applications with a focus on Planetary Materials. Four fellowships will be awarded for 2022, two fellowships in the summer term i.e. April-July and two in the winter term, September-December. The topics for the four consecutive calls will be addressing Planetary Spaces in 2023, Planetary Times in 2024, Planetary Agency (summer term 2025) and Planetary Politics (winter term 2025).
